Poster of the jazz concert scheduled for February 25, 1959 at the Duse Theater in Bologna

The Original Dixieland Rheno Seven and pianist Horace Silver's quintet will perform for the occasion. The latter had just returned from performing in February 1959 at the fourth edition of the Sanremo Jazz Festival, organized by Arrigo Chicken and Pino Maffei

In October of the same year the first edition of the Bologna Jazz Festival (anticipated in 1958 by the Emilian Jazz Festival at the Antoniano in Bologna organized by Antonio Cicci Foresti), in which the American trumpeter Chet Baker performs accompanied by Enrico Intra, Franco Cerri e Ralph Ferraro

Between the 1950s and 1960s, Alberto Alberti and Antonio Cicci Foresti, respectively councilor and president of the Hot Club of Bologna, established themselves as a point of reference for the lively jazz scene of the Emilian capital. The two are assisted by Ruggero Stiassi, previously active in the Milanese jazz scene, by Francesco Lo Bianco, dentist, drummer and patron, and the trumpeter Nardo Giardina
