Press review of the 70s

Article (by Giuseppe Dalla Bona) appeared in the magazine Musica Jazz (October 1977) on the 1977 Macerata Jazz Festival

Saint Louis Macerata Jazz Festival it was organized on 22, 23, 24 July 1977 at the Arena Sferisterio.

The billboard saw the presence of several Italian and foreign musicians: the trio of pianist Enrico Pieranunzi with Bruno Tommaso and Roberto Gatto (“the set of the three Italians was one of the most beautiful things of the event” – writes the Musica Jazz journalist), the trumpeter Chet Baker with Gianni Basso, Jacques Pelzer, Michel Grailler, Freddie De Ronde and Gian Carlo Pillot, the trumpeter Enrico Rava with Massimo Urbani, J.F. Jenny Clarke and Aldo Romano (regarding the performance of the young Roman saxophonist, Massimo Urbani, the Jazz Music journalist writes - "his style is undergoing a slow evolution: his voice conveys an increasingly personal lyricism..."), saxophonist Steve Lacy, saxophonist Phil Woods' quartet, trombonist Dino Piana with the rhythm section formed by Enrico Pieranunzi, Bruno Tommaso and Roberto Gatto, saxophonist Archie Shepp with Mal Waldron, Cameron Brown and Charlie Persip.
