Interview by Mario Luzzi with Enrico Pieranunzi which appeared in the magazine "Musica Jazz" (March 1987).
In that period, the Roman pianist released two trio albums: "Space Jazz Trio Vol.1” (produced in Germany by the YVP Music label), with the drummer Fabrizio Sferra and the double bass player Enzo Pietropaoli, and “Deep Down” (produced in Italy by the Soul Note label), with drummer Joey Baron and double bass player Marc Johnson. In these recordings, Enrico Pieranunzi's synthesis of the research begun at the end of the Seventies on a more intimate and lyrical sound, open to new expressive modulations borrowed from the piano legacy of Bill Evans, Paul Bley and Keith Jarrett.
