New Lands – Pieranunzi/Johnson/Baron

Discography (labels) from the 80s

Album entitled “New Lands” by the pianist Enrico Pieranunzi's trio formed by the double bassist Marc Johnson and the drummer Joey Baron. The album was recorded on 17 June 1984 at i Sonic Studios of Rome and published by the Dutch label Timeless.

In 1984 Marc Johnson (collaborator, among others, of the pianist Bill Evans and the saxophonist Stan Getz) e Joey Baron, on tour in Italy, are hired to play together with pianist Kenny Drew at Franco Fayenz and Enrico Cogno From Rome. The American pianist, however, was forced to suddenly leave the trio for family reasons. Enrico Pieranunzi, called by Pepito Pignatelli to replace Kenny Drew at the last moment for the scheduled concert, finds himself playing on the stage of the Roman jazz club together with Johnson and Baron. A situation born by chance that will give life to a long and fruitful artistic partnership.
