Around the mid-seventies, Enrico Rava he travels between Italy, Argentina and the United States to hold concerts and make recordings with groups of local instrumentalists. The disc "Pupa a Chrysalis" was recorded in Rome (15 and 16 July 1974), New York (December 1973) and Buenos Aires (April 1974)

The entire material recorded on analogue support was digitized and restored by the sound engineers of the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome under the supervision of Paolo Marra, curator of the Jazz Archive in Rome.
