Ripple Editing is a function of Reaper which allows you to edit simultaneously on multiple clips of the same shred or on multiple tracks simultaneously.
The different ways
Ripple Editing has two different modes of use that can be selected on the Main Toolbar or via the Option-p shortcut. By default the option is disabled, but by activating it you can see through the icon in the Main Toolbar which mode we are in.
- first click: enable editing on the track
- second click: enable editing on all tracks
- third click: disable option
Track editing
When we select editing by track, moving a clip, all the clips on the same track after it will move accordingly. As you can see in the example (fig. 2) when we move a clip without the active ripple editor, we can only move the selected clip that will be superimposed on the following clips, with the ripple editor active instead we will move all the clips following the selection .

Another important feature is that if we cut a track with the ripple editor active, the void created will be filled by the subsequent clips as can be seen in the example (fig. 3)

Editing for all tracks
With this option active, all changes will be made on all tracks and also all markers will follow the clips in the movements or in the group cuts.
