Study path aimed to prepare the students for the admission to the first cycle academic courses in Composition and Film Scoring and Applied Music; each student can access by an admission test and the duration varies from one to 2 years depending on the self-preparation of each aspirant defined after the admission test.

Among the modes of attendance is also providedthe Teen Music Academy mode, thought exclusivelyfor students aged 12 to 17, and which provides adiluted scheduling of subjects, based on school commitments. The personalized study plan includes a minimum of 2 subjects up to a maximum of 4 subjects for each year, which can be attended in presence or entirely online or in mixed modality, up to the recognition of the skills necessary for admission to the academic three-year period

Big Band with antonio SolimeneHigher education diploma for the artistic and professional preparation of the modern composer with specialization in film music. During this training course, compositional studies will be based both on the solidity of academic preparation (harmony, counterpoint, composition and orchestration) and on a modern professional approach with particular reference to the composition of soundtracks for orchestra and symphonic arrangement).
The acquisition of compositional and orchestration skills will be deepened until a high professional level is achieved, also thanks to the possibility of using numerous musical ensembles ranging from the string quartet to the Beethoven symphony orchestra.
The main objective is to obtain a technical and creative security that can be inserted in the most complete way into today's artistic and professional reality and that allows the student to have all the main creative and technical tools to compose, orchestrate, arrange and direct his own compositions in the recording studio and in concerts. During the composition course, the equipment and main musical notation and musical programming programs (DAW) will also be studied in depth, which are now indispensable for carrying out the profession of composer, prepared both in the aspect of tradition and that of technology combined with creativity and the compositional profession.

It arises from the need to provide artistic and compositional support to different entertainment industries (Cinema, Television, Gaming, Prose, Musical, Communication) from which the term "applied". The musical language in these cases is at the service of the media, of a product or a performance taking into consideration the "approach" that must be assumed to integrate itself with the language of the media, to arouse emotions in the spectator, to accompany the dramaturgy, the script, to emphasize a situation, an action, a landscape. Orchestration, counterpoint, harmony, composition are enriched with modern elements that take into account the linearity and not linearity of synchronicity. Technology plays a fundamental role in applied music as the modern composer must have extensive competence in composing and orchestrating virtually, in processing a sound through a synthesis and/or sampling technique, in processing and assembling all sound information in a multichannel or 3D mix. To the classic subjects of musical compositional direction are added technological subjects that allow the student to become familiar and competent with music informatics, sound design, electronic music, virtual voice.

The pre-academic Composition and Applied Music course will be activated at the Saint Louis headquarters in Milan starting from the academic year. 2024/25.

The training course in Composition and Film Scoring aims at the acquisition and development of creativity and compositional skills, having at its disposal, unique in Italy, musical ensembles, from the string quartet to the Beethoven symphony orchestra, for the verification, execution and conducting your own scores.

The academic path in Applied Music develops artistic, technological and compositional skills to create supporting music for the different worlds of entertainment: Cinema, Television, Gaming, Prose, Musicals, Communication.

For the decentralized headquarters of Saint Louis in Milan, the authorization process has been started for the first level academic courses already active at the central headquarters in Rome.

The Department of Composition, Film Scoring and Applied Music at Saint Louis was the first in Italy to be authorized by the Italian Ministry of Education to award first and second cycle academic diplomas.

The participation fees for the courses vary according to the ISEE income, not through rigid income brackets, but in a constant manner according to the actual ISEE parameter of each student.

  • The ordinary fee is applicable for Isee above 150,000; the maximal subsidy is applicable for incomes below 25,000.

  • You can enter your isee income to verify the actual amount of your annual fee, this fee will always have to be confirmed by the teaching secretariat.

  • The fees below do not take into account any academic or pre-academic subjects that are in debt/not successfully passed/needed to be repeated.
