Gabriele Ceccarelli composer, arrangiatore, direttore d’orchestra e docente, nasce a Frosinone nel 1993 e si stabilisce a Roma dopo il compimento della maggiore età.
He studied at Saint Louis College of Music, earning his first cycle diploma of academic studies in Jazz Piano, first level master's degree in Film Scoring and, finally, the second cycle specialization diploma in Composition and Jazz Arrangement. At the end of his studies, he prepared and discussed a thesis on "Recomposition: techniques and achievements in jazz" which was awarded by a following publication.
He still pursues the study of composition, either individually or with the occasional guidance of master Richard DeRosa.
He has written music for the most diverse formations (big band, jazz combo, symphony orchestra, television orchestra, string quintet and other chamber ensembles) and carries collaborations with soloists such as Paolo Fresu and Javier Girotto.
He personally directed his original compositions in important locations, such as the Auditorium Parco della Musica and the Teatro Eliseo, and some of his scores were also performed outside Italy (EU, USA).
In 2018, he was one of the three finalists of the international competition "Scrivere in Jazz (Writing in Jazz)" (arrangement category); in the same year, he was also selected to be part of the Italian Jazz C.R.E.A project, dedicated to the research and innovation in the compositional jazz field. In 2020, he entered the final phase of the international composition competition "Jazz Comp Graz" (currently in
programme for 2021).
Despite his background strongly rooted in tradition, with genuine curiosity, he turns his gaze to the most diverse musical worlds, from folk to ancient music. His works are an euphoric, optimistic and proteiform representation of daily suggestions, introspective and retrospective visions, in an incessant and confidential narrative flow.
Since 2015 he has been involved in "Fragment", a hybrid project in which Irish music merges with rock and other contemporary styles, and since then, he has participated with his own compositions and original arrangements in the group's repertoire.
