Mario Gagliani

Mario Gagliani graduated in Composition, Conducting, Choral Music and Choir Conducting and Band Instrumentation. You also obtained the High Specialization Diploma in Orchestral Conducting, with Maestro Donato Renzetti, at the Higher School of Music of the Pescara Academy, with full marks.

As a composer he is the author of symphonic, chamber and sacred music, stage music for the theater, as well as music for symphonic bands. His works are performed in Italy and abroad. Winner of composition contests (Di Iorio di Atessa, Boario di Torino, Mottola, etc.), some of his works have been included as compulsory pieces in music competitions.

Parallel to composition, he devoted himself to conducting, working with Italian wind orchestras and orchestras. In 1998, he won the "Maurizio Rinaldi" prize awarded to the best student in the class of Conducting al Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome. Thanks to this award, he made his public debut with the direction of the Stabat Mater ”by A. Dvorak for solos, choir and orchestra, in the Academic Hall of the Conservatory of S. Cecilia in Rome. Subsequently, he directs "El retablo di maese Pedro" by De Falla, La serva padrona "by G.B. Pergolesi, the "Traviata" by G. Verdi etc ...

In 2000, he won the competition for titles and exams as Deputy Director of the Central Band of the Navy, conducting it in Italy and abroad: Auckland, New Zealand, Cairo, Alexandria, Egypt etc. He was a jury member in national and international composition and composition for wind orchestras contests and held courses for orchestra and band conductors.

To the activity of composer and conductor, he alternates an intense chamber activity, as an accompanist on the piano, winning some competitions (Lauri Volpi di Latina, etc.).
He also carries out research activities in the fields of analysis and music theory and in history of composition. He has written musical analysis in the music magazine "Il Pegaso".

In November 2018, he was invited as a representative for Italy to the Festival de la Habana – Cuba, where some of his works were performed and where he also gave lectures at the "Colegio Universitario San Gerònimo".
In April 2019, he held a masterclass at the "International workshop for student of composition" at the National Academy of Music "Pantcho Vladigerov" in Sofia (Bulgaria).
In 2002, he won the competition for teaching spots, for titles and exams, of the composition class.
