Matteo Cristofori

Matteo Cristofori inizia lo studio del violino all’età di 4 anni, già all’età di 8 viene premiato nei primi concorsi nazionali. Ha studiato con G. Cappone nella sua città (Viterbo) per poi perfezionarsi, dopo il diploma presso il Conservatorio “G.B. Pergolesi”, a Roma con G. Moench e a Fiesole con F. Cusano, collaborando con l’Orchestra Giovanile Italiana e con l’Orchestra V. Galilei. Ha seguito Masterclass e corsi di perfezionamento con B. Korfker, C. Rossi, O. Semchuk, C. de los Santos.

In addition to his collaborations with several symphony orchestras and his activity as a soloist and chamber musician (in 2017 he performed in Florence in the world premiere as a soloist his "Concerto Breve" for violin and orchestra), he has always turned his attention to the violin language in jazz, blues and contemporary music, participating as a soloist in different formations at International Festivals such as UmbriaJazz , the International Bluegrass Meeting, International Acoustic Meeting, PiorAcoustic Festival, etc. Alongside his teaching career of Jazz Violin at Saint Louis College of Music in Rome since 2015, he has held Masterclasses of Jazz Violin in important European institutions such as the Conservatory Superior de Musica in Pamplona (SPA) and the L.U.C.A. School of Arts in Leuven (BEL).

He graduated in Composition from the class of M. Ignelzi at the Conservatory "L. Cherubini" in Florence with the highest marks and two years ahead of the normal course of study, allowing to get access to the scholarship "C. J. Boncompagni" for the best graduate. He completed his studies with S. Sciarrino at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. He attended Masterclass with S. Gervasoni, H. Lachenmann, D. Marianelli.

In recent years, his compositions have been awarded in 6 International Composition Contests, including the "International Antonìn Dvořàk Composition Competition" in which he was for two years in a row (VII and VIII edition) the only Italian finalist, receiving in 2016 the special prize for the best Passacaglia composed on site. Several of his works have been performed in events and festivals dedicated to contemporary music (PlayIt 2015, Chiesa di Santi Fiorentini FI, Teatro "Verdi" Firenze, Teatro "Niccolini" di S. Casciano, Festival Chigiana 2018, Firenze Capitale 2015...). Some of his works have been published by Alea Publishing and Ravel Music Publisher and published by FinestArt Records.

Ha inoltre approfondito il linguaggio chitarristico con Lello Panico diplomandosi presso il “Saint Louis College of Music” di Roma nel 2009 e Matteo Cristofori, Erasmus+.
