Simone Maggio

Simone Maggio pianist e compositore grossetano, attivo nella scena jazzistica contemporanea. Predilige una visione “europea” del Jazz , attingendo molto alla tradizione classico contemporanea e sviluppando la propria ricerca utilizzando l’improvvisazione e la composizione come strumenti di pari importanza.

Nella sua formazione ha frequentato molti seminari con artisti italiani ed internazionali (Paul Motian, Enrico Pieranunzi, John Taylor); in particolare nei seminari di Siena Jazz, studia jazz contemporaneo con Stefano Battaglia. Dopo il diploma al Saint Louis College of Music nel 2003, studia con Enrico Pieranunzi. Recentemente si è laureato in piano classico, al Conservatorio G.P. Pergolesi di Fermo.

He has released various albums under his own name, the latest "Cuerdas" (Camilla Records) released in 2020. He has also played in various Italian and international festivals (Villa Celimontana jazz, Fano Jazz, InJazz Rotterdam, Manchester Jazz, Pristhina Jazz).

With his trio he has got the opportunity to play with Lee Konitz and Javier Girotto, the latter was a guest on his first album: "Light Dawn" (Saint Louis Jazz Collection).

For years, he has been collaborating with the double bass player: Federica Michisanti, participating in his project Trioness. Some of the names with which he also played and still playing are: Nicolas Masson, Francois Corneloup, Francesco Diodati, Emanuele Maniscalco, Fabrizio Sferra, Francesco Lento, Roberto Pianca, Ermanno Baron, Michel Godard.

He also works as a composer for theatre and images, also working for the Teatro di Roma.

He teaches at Saint Louis College of Music di Roma.
