Stefano Sabatini

Stefano Sabatini pianist versatile e raffinato e compositore ispirato, Stefano Sabatini inizia a fare le prime esperienze in campo jazzistico formando il gruppo “Kaleidon” e suonando con Tony Scott, Massimo Urbani e Maurizio Giammarco.

He then moved to Los Angeles where he attended, later graduating, the composition and arrangement course at the Dick Grove School of Music. Also in Los Angeles he recorded an album under his name with Californian musicians including Chester Thompson (formerly part of Weather Report and Frank Zappa), among others.

After 6 years in the States, he returned to Rome and later joined the first formation of "Lingomania" (with Maurizio Giammarco, Flavio Boltro, Furio Di Castri and Roberto Gatto). The group was voted "Best Group of the Year" by Musica Jazz magazine and was awarded at "Radio Uno Sera Jazz".

He is also a member of the bands of Massimo Urbani, Giovanni Tommaso and Tullio de Piscopo and plays among others with Johnny Griffin, Lee Konitz, Sal Nistico, Steve Grossman, Gary Bartz, Billie Cobham, Chet Baker (with whom he participates in the RAI broadcasts " D.O.C." and "Va Pensiero" ), Rick Margitza, Sonny Fortune, George Garzone, Ronnie Cuber, Alex Sipiagin and also the Italians Stefano Di Battista , Rosario Giuliani, Gianni Basso, Daniele Scannapieco, Dino and Franco Piana, Giovanni Amato, Stefano D'Anna and many others.

He participated in numerous national and international events (Paris Festival, Nuremberg Festival, Umbria Jazz, Verona Festival, Pompeii Festival, Ivrea Festival, Atina Jazz Festival, Jazz & Image at Villa Celimontana).

He recorded 7 albums in his name, including "Hearth and Soul", recorded with Luca Pirozzi on double bass and Pietro Iodice on drums, for the Alfa Music label. In the field of Pop Music, he has collaborated with Eduardo De Crescenzo, Sergio Caputo, Tony Esposito, Mia Martini, Edoardo Bennato, Fabio Concato, Tullio de Piscopo and Teresa De Sio.

He currently teaches Piano, Harmony and Improvisation at Saint Louis College of Music in Rome.
