Umberto Fiorentino as leader and sideman has had collaborations with big names such as: Paolo Fresu, Palle Daniellson, Michael Brecker, Enrico Rava, Aldo Romano, Mike Stern, Vinnie Colaiuta, Albert Mangelsdorff, Bruno Tommaso, Paolo Damiani, Enzo Pietropaoli, Flavio Boltro, Furio di Castri, Manu Roche, Rita Marcotulli, Fabrizio Sferra, Greg Burk, Ares Tavolazzi, Fabio Zeppetella and many others.

As a frontman he had experienced different formations, from the duo to the quintet with musicians such as: Ramberto Ciammarughi, Fabrizio Sferra, Gianluca Renzi, Dario Deidda, Enzo Pietropaoli, Luca Pirozzi, Stefano Sastro, Stefano D'Anna, Francesco Puglisi, John Arnold, Massimo Manzi.

In the 1980s he was part of the group "Lingomania" (with Giammarco/Rea/ Pietropaoli/Gatto), a historic group awarded in 1985 and 1987 by the referendum of the national critics called by the magazine "Musica Jazz" in the category "Best Group of Italian Jazz".
With Lingomania in the 1980s he participated in an innumerable amount of concerts, international exhibitions and Italian and foreign radio and television performances. He has taught in the most important Italian educational structures.

He has obtained many public and critical accolades in the referendums of the main music magazines. He is the author of three educational videos and two books. He has recorded several CDs in his own name and participated as a guest or sideman in various projects record companies. In pop music he participated as a soloist on three CDs of Mina. Cooperation Florentine Zeppetella Duo.
Umberto Fiorentino is the new Head of the Jazz Guitar Department .
