B-Jazz International Contest 2023

URBAN QUARTET, formed by Giuseppe Sacchi, Gianluca Robustelli, Vincenzo Quirico and Federico Balestra is finalista del B-Jazz International Contest 2023 (https://b-jazz.be/en/), in the context of the Jazz in't Park festival in the Belgian town of Ghent.

The band, created by Saint Louis graduate students, will be in the final on September 7th. Among the jurors of the final of the prestigious international contest, also the jazz singing teacher Cristina Zavalloni

Urban Quartet is the jazz ensemble composed of Gianluca Robustelli (guitar), Giuseppe Sacchi (piano), Vincenzo Quirico (double bass) and Federico Balestra (drums). Based in Rome since 2022, they have already played in important venues such as the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome and the Umbria Jazz Festival, winning the popular jury prize at the Umbria Jazz Contest 2022. In December 2022 they recorded their first album “Sofà” with Max Ionata as special guest. Their sound is firmly rooted in the jazz tradition with a contemporary approach to composition and interplay.
