Joe Farnsworth (South Hadley - Massachussetts, 1968) is one of the best batteristi worldwide. Born into a family of musicians, he begins to "chew" jazz from an early age when his older brother plays him vinyls by Count Basie, John Coltrane and Charlie Parker. It is in Boston, in his college days, that young Farnsworth has the opportunity to meet the likes of Harold Mabern and George Coleman whom he will soon identify as his mentors.

The relocation to the Big Apple corresponds to the assiduous activity at the Smoke Club where he has the opportunity to develop his talent and to weave a series of important collaborations that lead to the partnership first of all with Jon Hendricks and later with Diana Krall. albums as a sideman and some lucky productions as a leader (the debut album entitled Beautiful Friendship for Criss Cross Jazz dates back to 1998), numerous tours that have seen him tread the stages of the most famous jazz clubs and festivals around the world, Joe Farnsworth is also a well-regarded teacher as well as being an endorser for Zildjian. JOE FARNSWORTH Master Class, not to be missed.
