The Codice Fiscale (Tax Code) constitutes an instrument of personal identification in all relations with public bodies and administrations. The only valid one is that issued by theAgenzia delle Entrate (Revenue Agency).

In Italy it is required to carry out many obligations, such as renting an apartment, opening a bank account, having a telephone contract or installing the internet at home.

It is possible to request the Tax Code at the Italian Consulate or Embassy in your Country before the arrival in Italy (strongly recommended).

Alternatively, the CF can be requested upon arrival in Italy, at the headquarters of the Revenue Agency, in Via Ippolito Nievo 36, open from Monday to Friday, from 8.45 to 12.45; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday also from 2.15 pm to 3.35 pm.

The office is located 500 m from Trastevere Station, and is easily accessible by bus 3, 8, 730, stop "Piazza Ippolito Nievo".

It is possible to download in advance the form to be completed, and consult the guidelines for compilation.
