Saint Louis adopts and applies the ECTS, according to which each credit is equivalent to 25 hours of work, and each academic year corresponds to 60 credits (1,500 hours of work).

The methodology that is applied to establish the workload related to each module has been developed by a team of expert educational coordinators of the Institute. The coordinators took into account the educational objectives of each subject, adding the hours of lessons and study considered necessary to fully reach the level in question.

The breakdown of the value in ECTS assigned to each individual training module is available in the "Didactics" section on this website.

The allocation of credits to international students and Erasmus students is dictated by a policy of transparency and impartiality, basing credit recognition on actual learning outcomes and workload.

Each international and Erasmus student will be individually followed by the International Office in the possible transfer of credits obtained from previous study paths, in the preparation of the study plan, in obtaining and completing all the final recognition certifications, also supporting it at every stage of his/her course at Saint Louis and in Rome.

The Italian voting system provides for an expression in thirtieths: the minimum vote is equal to 18 and the maximum vote is equal to 30. Students can obtain honors (grade 30 cum laude) in the event that the quality of their exam is deemed excellent.

ITALIAN ACADEMIC GRADING SYSTEM

30 cum laude - excellent
30 - different
28 to 30 - very good
24 to 27 - good
from 21 to 23 – discreet
from 18 to 21 - enough

RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS

Below you can find useful information on living in Rome, how and where to find accommodation and on the various collateral support systems that Saint Louis offers to international students.

buddy system logoAmong the support systems we point you out first of all the buddy system, a program through which each Erasmus student is joined by a student from Saint Louis who, after being specially trained by the International Office, serves as a tutor to the entrusted student. The buddy system is a programme that promotes the integration of Erasmus students within the new Institute. The project, increasingly used by European institutes participating in the Erasmus+ programme, is a form of reception and support.
The student who finds him/herself living in a completely new and different reality from the country of origin, finds in the buddy an accomplice and friend student.

STAFF AND TEACHERS

The Erasmus + program also allows teachers and staff of the Saint Louis to carry out a mobility period at a foreign institute, organization or company.
The possible mobilities are teaching mobilities in which teachers can participate and training mobilities open to both teachers and Saint Louis staff.
Teachers and staff of foreign Institutes can come to carry out their teaching or training mobility at the Saint Louis College of Music.
