ITALIAN LANGUAGE

Classes at Saint Louis take place predominantly in Italian, but as the number of international students is constantly growing, Saint Louis is rapidly achieving its goal of offering entire Courses held exclusively in English.

Although knowledge of Italian is therefore NOT a mandatory prerequisite for accessing Saint Louis courses, we strongly advise international students to acquire the basics of the Italian language before starting their studies. In this way the student can progress regularly in his/her academic path and be able to connect with other students and musicians, especially during collective classes. We therefore invite students to start studying Italian already before leaving their Country of origin. Recommended basic knowledge is equivalent to a standard A2 level.

Following admission to the chosen course, international students will have the opportunity to attend a weekly Italian language course, included in the ordinary fees. This course is worth 2 ECTS credits per year for academic courses and will be evaluated with a final pass/fail test. In addition, international students may benefit from special language support thanks to many initiatives organized by the International Office such as: Buddy System, extra study material in English provided by teachers, tutoring by the International Office and the reference teachers of the chosen Course, to ensure that the student can easily attend every subject.

For students who intend to follow a more intensive study program of the Italian language, either starting from scratch or simply to improve their competence, Saint Louis has established a partnership with a well-known Italian language school based in Rome, near the Saint Louis Offices (but also present in Siena, Florence and Milan) SCUOLA LEONARDO DA VINCI
