Javier Girotto

Argentine saxophonist, composer and arranger. Born in Córdoba in Argentina to a family of Italian origin, he began his business in the 1980s and then moved to Italy in 1991. Here, in 1994, he formed Aires Tango together with Marco Siniscalco on double bass, Alessandro Gwis on piano and Michele Rabbia on percussion, with whom he made many tours throughout the peninsula, recording 10 albums;

The ensemble's repertoire, of a jazz type, touches on most of the expressions and changes that have characterized African-American music since the beginning of the last century, proposing some of the most beautiful pages of orchestral jazz literature (Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie). The elaborations of contemporary arrangers from the American area are privileged (Sammy Nestico, Don Sebesky, Bob Mintzer). Javier Girotto has chosen the Saint Louis Big Band to perform and record the songs of his project “Escenas en Big Band”.

Italian Jazz C.R.E.A. is the Saint Louis College of Music project that is bringing young musicians, arrangers and composers on the stage of prestigious conservatories, theaters and festivals, in Italy and abroad, in collaboration with established artists and conductors such as Inaki Askunze, Richard De Rosa, Paolo Fresu and Javier Girotto.

The last stage of the international tour will see 6 young composers and arrangers from the Saint Louis house direct the local Big Band of the Pamplona Conservatory, prepared by Basque saxophonist Inaki Askunze, already a guest in Rome in the previous stages of the project.

From 12 to 14 November the composers will rehearse the songs with the local Big Band, and then crown the trip with a final concert, on the evening of 15 November, open to the public and organized in conjunction with the opening night of the Congress of Spanish Conservatories and International, hosted by the Pamplona Conservatory itself.
