Davide Shorty

After being part of the Combomastas' group and having released the solo album “Piccolo” (2007), the single “U Tagghiamu stu Palluni” (2008) and the album “Shorty VS The Supa Produsa” (2010) in 2010 he moved to London to embark on a new musical journey, immersing himself in a new language and in a city of immense cultural variety. In 2012 he founded the band Retrospective For Love.

The group was born from the meeting with the guitarist Alessandro La Barbera, the producer/pianist Gaba and the bassist Agostino Collura (all rigorously from Palermo).

Gathered together in London and inspired by the hip hop and neo soul sound of artists such as The Roots, J Dilla, D'Angelo and Erykah Badu, they give life to a real band, completed by the international collaboration with the promising Parisian singer Leslie Phillips.
Over the years the band has played numerous prestigious venues in the UK and acted as opening act for one of the pioneers of neo soul, Bilal, and for the new promise of neo soul, the New Zealander Jordan Rakei. “Retrospective For Love EP” (2014) was their recording debut between hip-hop, soul, dub/reggae and the purest experimentation followed in 2017 by the first official album “Random Activities of A Heart” (on Wormfood Records).

After a 2015 full of concerts, including the famous Soundwave Croatia festival in Tisno and the new and exclusive Sicilian Pas De Trai festival in San Fratello (ME), DAVIDE SHORTY takes part in the 9th Edition of X-FACTOR, conquering the public and judges with the his indisputable talent and his great vocal technique, which allowed him to move easily between different musical genres, ranking third in the talent show broadcast on Sky Uno. His EP "Davide Shorty" consists of six songs including the hit "My Soul Trigger", the first unreleased single written by Davide Sciortino himself with Chanty and Luca Chiaravalli, in rotation on national radios, This is not the same old show.

The song, characterized by black and Anglo-Saxon influences, fully reflects the soul of its interpreter, expressed through an innate vocal talent. The album hosts the voices of the rappers Tormento in "Fuori di Noi" and Hyst in "Enigmatica", as well as the collaboration with one of the hot names in electronics, Godblesscomputer.

The disc was recorded between the Soulcat Studio in Vinovo (TO) and the BH Studio in Bologna. The graphic design of the project was curated by the illustrator Ale Giorgini. The third album of 2020, "La Solution Reboot", continues the collaboration with the Funk Shui Project. Distributed by Artist First, the work is produced and mixed by Stefano “Natty Dub” Casalis at Soulcat Studio in Vinovo (TO). The graphic project is still by Ale Giorgini.
