Davide Shorty

After being part of the group "Combomastas" and having made the solo album "Piccolo" (2007), the single "U Tagghiamu stu Palluni" (2008) and the album "Shorty VS The Supa Produsa" (2010) in 2010 he moved to London to embark on a new musical adventure, immersing himself in a new language and in a city of immense cultural variety. In 2012, he founded the band "Retrospective For Love". The group was born from the meeting with the guitarist Alessandro La Barbera, the producer / pianist Gaba and the bassist Agostino Collura (all from Palermo).
Reunited in London and inspired by the hip hop and neo soul sound of artists such as The Roots, J Dilla, D'Angelo and Erykah Badu, they give life to a real band, completed by the international collaboration with the promising Parisian singer Leslie Phillips. Over the years, the band has played in numerous prestigious venues in the UK and has served as the opening act for one of the pioneers of neo soul, Bilal, and for the new promise of neo soul, the New Zealander: Jordan Rakei. "Retrospective For Love EP" (2014) was their debut album between hip-hop, soul, dub/reggae and in 2017 the purest experimentation gave birth to their first official album "Random Acitivities of A Heart" (with Wormfood Records).
After a 2015 full of concerts, including the famous Soundwave Croatia festival in Tisno and the new and exclusive Sicilian festival Pas De Trai in San Fratello (ME), DAVIDE SHORTY participated in the IX Edition of X-FACTOR, conquering the public and judges with his indisputable talent and his great vocal technique, which allowed him to move easily between different musical genres ranking third in the talent broadcast on Sky Uno. His EP "Davide Shorty" consists of six tracks including the hit "My Soul Trigger", the first unreleased single written by Davide Sciortino himself with Chanty and Luca Chiaravalli, aired on national radio.
The song, characterized by black and Anglo influences, fully reflects the deep connection with soul that its interpreter, expressed through an innate vocal gift. "Straniero" (Foreigner) is his first official album, out on February 24th for "Macro Beats" label and distributed by A1 Entertainment, available on iTunes, Spotify, in all digital stores and in CD and vinyl format in all record stores." Terapia di gruppo" (Group Therapy) is the second album released in 2018: eleven tracks that sanction the collaboration with the Funk Shui Project collective. The album features the voices of rappers Tormento in "Fuori di Noi" and Hyst in "Enigmatica", as well as collaboration with one of the great names in electronics, "Godblesscomputer". The album was recorded between the Soulcat Studio in Vinovo (TO) and the BH Studio in Bologna. The graphic design of the project was curated by the illustrator Ale Giorgini. The third album, dropped in 2020, "La Soluzione Reboot", kept the collaboration with the Funk Shui Project. Distributed by "Artist First", the work was produced and mixed by Stefano "Natty Dub" Casalis at Soulcat Studio in Vinovo (TO). The graphic design was still curated by Ale Giorgini.
