"Giorgia Mileto" scholarships, selections open for 2023

"Giorgia Mileto" scholarships, the 2023 selections are open to participate in the Call for the assignment of the Prize in memory of Giorgia Mileto which allows you to attend the 1st and 2nd level academic courses of the Department of Jazz and Popular Music of the Saint Louis .

Il “Giorgia Mileto Award”, now in its fourth edition, is aimed at discovering talented young musicians, in the field of Jazz and Pop-Rock. In fact, the winners will have the opportunity to attend the first and second level pre-academic and academic courses of the Saint Louis, AFAM Institute recognized by the Miur, taking advantage of important discounts on the fee - from 40% to 100% of the annual fee - for an annual value of each award between 2,000 and 4,500 euros.

The Call is open to musicians, singers and songwriters. To participate in the selections it is not necessary to be already registered at Saint Louis. The following scholarships will be awarded:

6 scholarships for the Department of Pop (bass, drums, guitar, piano, singing)
4 scholarships for the Jazz Department (bass, drums, singing, guitar, piano, sax)
2 scholarships for Jazz double bass
2 scholarships for Jazz trumpet
2 scholarships for jazz trombone

Scholarships will be awarded through hearings, which will take place with a live concert in Rome, at the local "Boogie Club", the June 22nd and 23rd 2023. Each Award finalist candidate will be accompanied on stage by a resident band of renowned professional musicians.

For this reason, the Saint Louis, in agreement with the Mileto family, believes that the best way to remember our dear friend and colleague Giorgia is to reward the talent and dedication to music of young musicians, promoting, every year, the establishment of scholarships that allow deserving students to continue their musical training in the context of 1st and 2nd level academic courses.

How to participate in the selections

All musicians who have not turned 28 on 10 June 2023 can participate in the "Giorgia Mileto Prize".

The award is divided into two categories:

  • Ordinary, all musicians who have not turned 28 on 10 June 2023 and who on 10 June 2023 are over 17 years of age.
  • Under 18, all musicians who have not turned 18 on 10 June 2023.

In the form, indicate at least 2 links to own audio and/or video performances. On the basis of the material received, the Commission will select the candidates for subsequent auditions.

Auditions will be held on 22nd and 23rd June 2023 with a resident band/orchestra supporting all applicants.

Deadlines for submitting the application: from 29 March to 5 May 2023
Results of the Pre-selections: by 31 May 2023
Auditions for scholarship assignment: 22 and 23 June 2023 at the local Boogie Club (Via Gaetano Astolfi, 63 – Rome). The auditions will take place live with a repertoire chosen by the candidate. The Commission may assign one or more compulsory pieces.

Saint Louis, which does not benefit from public contributions for its institutional activity, makes a fund of € 20,000 of its own resources available for the Giorgia Mileto Prize, 2023 edition.
