The Musician in the digital age. Massimo Bonelli, artistic director and general organizer of the May Day concert of Rome, as well as producer, editor and music consultant, joins the teaching staff of Saint Louis, proposing an in-depth course on the dynamics that a musician must be able to face in the time of the digitalization of the musical world and more generally of work.

With the recent and now definitive transition of the music industry from the analogue to the digital model, today it seems increasingly complicated to get noticed and find the key to affirming a new art project.
The digital revolution has completely changed the rules of the game and, very often, artists and professionals have not yet fully understood and metabolized them new operational dynamics of the sector while they continue to pursue strategic models no longer suitable to face in the best way the difficult challenge that arises in front of anyone who wants to try to build a successful music career in the digital age.
Starting from the new scenario, from the theoretical and practical causes and effects of the digital revolution on the current music industry, Bonelli offers an innovative working method and in some ways revolutionary that also leverages on key marketing concepts applied to music.
A collection of strategies and tips dedicated to aspiring artists on their way to success, suitable for emerging young people and also for more mature musicians who want to reshape their career to keep up with the times.

Who is Massimo Bonelli?

Since 2015 Massimo Bonelli has been the artistic director and general organizer of the May Day Concert in Rome.
Passionate about marketing and digital communication, he is the administrator of IDM - Italy Digital Music (collector of services for artists and digital distributor) and the co-founder of Yeyè (experimental project for marketing and digital communication in the music field).

Since the mid-1990s he has also been a musician as well as an artistic and executive producer for numerous recording projects. He is the creator and producer of the Tv Magazzini Musicali format broadcast on Rai 2, Rai 4 and Rai Radio 2 in 2021. He conceived and coordinates Casa SIAE, the structure produced by SIAE - in collaboration with iCompany and Rai Pubblicità - which is installed annually, a few meters from the Ariston Theater, during the Sanremo Festival.

He is the current organizer of the Fabrizio De André Award sponsored by the De André and Dori Ghezzi Foundation, with the artistic direction of Luisa Melis. In the summer of 2021 he was given the position of managing director of the Italia Music Lab Foundation which deals with the support and dissemination of new musical forms and trends throughout the country.

In 2020 he made the TV production of the Tenco Award (broadcast on Rai 3) and oversaw the executive production of "La Notte della Taranta" (TV project for Rai 2) as well as the artistic direction of Let's Play, the Rai program Radio 2 and Rai Play which reopened (post lockdown) live activities in the historic Rai headquarters in via Asiago in Rome.

Nel luglio 2020 ha coordinato la parte musicale di DIOR Cruise 2021, la sfilata evento di presentazione mondiale della nuova collezione tenutasi a Lecce, in piazza Duomo, con la direzione musicale del M° Paolo Buonvino. Nel 2019 si è occupato della produzione esecutiva del progetto discografico “Faber Nostrum”, l’album tributo dell’indie italiano a Fabrizio De André, prodotto da Sony Music in occasione del ventennale dalla scomparsa del cantautore. A fine 2019 ha poi avviato un rapporto di consulenza con Sony Music Italia per la gestione artistica dell’etichetta Numero Uno. Ha collaborato inoltre con il Club Tenco (evento “50 anni senza Luigi Tenco”), la Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo (Area Sanremo edizioni 2016 e 2017 ed Eventi collaterali al Festival edizioni 2017 e 2018) e con il Comune di Sanremo per il quale ha prodotto gli eventi “Oltre le Luci – Omaggio a Pepi Morgia” (2016) e “Un Palco per Amatrice” (2017). Il 19 febbraio 2020, ROI EDIZIONI ha pubblicato “La musica attuale – Come costruire la tua carriera musicale nell’era digitale”, il suo primo libro.
