The highly specialized course in orchestral conducting, in the meetings held by Maestro Adriano Melchiorre, aims to offer participants complete and in-depth training in orchestral conducting, with particular emphasis on gestural techniques, the concerting of scores taken from the repertoire classic, romantic, modern and contemporary. Through theoretical and practical lessons, students will have the opportunity to deepen their conducting skills and to compete with various musical ensembles, from the double quintet to the full orchestra. For composers, the possibility of conducting and concerting their own original compositions will also be offered.

For the lessons curated by Maestro Gianluca Podio on orchestral conducting with soundtrack orientation, some of the most common themes typical of orchestral conducting linked to image and commercial music (Cinema, TV, Radio and other types) will be addressed.

Also in this context, original pieces for given film sequences written by the students will be concerted and performed so as to practically verify the professional problems that arise in the recording studio when creating the various pieces of a soundtrack.

Teaching calendar
7 theoretical lessons of 2 hours each from October to January, of which 5 with Maestro Adriano Melchiorre and 2 specific for cinema direction with Maestro Gianluca Podio

6 conducting practice laboratory meetings, full day from February to May, with a double quintet, 4 of which with M° Adriano Melchiorre and 2 specific for film music with M° Gianluca Podio (2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello, 1 double bass, 1 flute, 1 oboe, 1 Bb-A clarinet, 1 bassoon and 1 horn)

Final conducting practice meeting with orchestra at 2: May or June with Maestro Adriano Melchiorre. This meeting will have as its main purpose the practice of the scores studied during the year. The orchestra will be composed of: 8 Vl firsts, 7 Vl seconds, 4 Violas, 4 Vcl, 2 Cb, 2 Fl, 2 Ob.,2 Cl.tti, 2 Fg, 2 Cr, 2 Tube, 1 Timpano – for a total of 38 elements.
