Ma che ci fanno le foglie negli armadi? ONJGT (Orchestra Nazionale Jazz Giovani Talenti/National Jazz Orchestra for Young Talents)
National Jazz Orchestra for Young Talents
The National Jazz Young Talents Orchestra (ONJGT in italian) is constituted by 26 musicians selected through an audition that took place at the Siena Jazz Foundation, candidates that were previously selected by the Conservatories of Music.
The Orchestra then rehearsed at the Teatro Puccini in Florence, elaborating a repertoire of original pieces composed specifically by some of the greatest Italian composers. In this project, the training of young people becomes the condition and also the means to provide an accurate artistic production and research.
Now, in the Jazz Departments of the Conservatories, excellent musicians follow the study path, often already engaged in concert activities within the ONJGT. It represents a dream that has distant origins, a bright present and a future to imagine together. Too many are the friends that I would like to thank, I will appoint only the Director of the Teatro Puccini, Guelfo Guelfi, without whom the dream would have only remained so.
The Orchestra Nazionale Jazz Giovani Talenti is fully part of the new cultural program of Italian and European music. And, even if on the surface the atypical group might seem one of the many good orchestras scattered throughout the territory, it is in the composition of the same as well as in its genesis that an originality aimed at representing the fertile Italian musical reality can be glimpsed. Calling itself "the National Orchestra" means: being able to concentrate within it the story and then history of a long and varied country that, especially in art, is expressed with a deep cultural and social richness that bearly can be compared with a few others in the world.
Based on all this is where "Ma che ci fanno le foglie negli armadi?" was born and where the value of this youthful group is concealed, in which many young artists belong. It is not so much the geographical origin that tells the story of the character of the broad formation as the addition of the creative thoughts of each one. To witness the ambitions and dreams of those who travel on the tracks of courageous creativity well guided by their Director and accompanied by the hand of a representative group of composers and arrangers who are also Italian.
What you'll find here, on this CD, is fresh jazz. "Ma che ci fanno le foglie negli armadi?" Composed to be music now. Composed for a young orchestra that, as soon as it was born, found itself where it dreamed of being: on the stages of the most prestigious exhibitions of our times. It was born in Florence, it was born in a theater. It is the result of resourcefulness. Born at the Teatro Puccini. It is the consequence of the talent and generosity of Maestro Paolo Damiani. Cool jazz for evenings of some importance. Good listening.
